Hi. This is my space. I'm Gian.

I am in school to finish my PhD in Molecular, Cellular, Developmental Biology (MCDB) with a minor in Evolutionary Biology (EBIO) at the University of Colorado, Boulder. I've specialized (by research) into biochemistry aspects of cellular mechanics. In EBIO I have specialized in botany and microbial ecology. I've dabbled in insect anatomy, but hey, who hasn't. My ultimate goal is to do research in the area of clincal research, particularly in finding novel uses for organic compounds found in exotic or esoteric species of plants, arthropods, and microbes. I'm a blast at dinner parties.

My previous professional endeavours includes software engineering, rational design, and AI research, particularly in search algorithms over knowledge representational structures. I played with game theory and markovian equations. After I got out of the Marine Corps I pursued a degree from Kennedy-Western University so I had to do something with it, right? Previous academic pursuits included the Psychological Anthropology program at the University of Kentucky. While fun and exciting (it was a really new field) I just got tired of cataloging shards of pottery for endless hours. :)

I currently live in Boulder, CO. I obtained my NREMT-B license, as well as the CO state license. I am a registered Wilderness First Responder (WFR), and NRFR. When I'm not on campus, I like to hike, 4 wheel, fence, shoot, play computer games, watch old school kung fu movies, or just generally decompress. Don't even get me started on World of Warcraft...

Software

I've designed and developed various software for the companies I've worked for, or for myself, in some cases. Some are listed below. Where available, downloads are presented, but I don't own all the software I've written, so, your mileage may vary if you're inclined to download something. I've not included software that I have contributed to that was already a preexisting work.
